Underwater

So…. when I said I was going to make a post dedicated to the trip to Belize I took, I hadn’t quite envisioned just how busy the upcoming school year would be. I guess other priorities got ahead of me, and to be honest I kind of forgot to keep my blog updated. I do apologize if you’ve been waiting to hear from me for so long.

That being said, I think its been long enough now since this trip, that I would rather dedicate the writing time to talking about how the first few weeks of this new school year have been, and how things have changed from the last school year which ended in October. Stay tuned for that.

Of course, I’d feel terrible if I truly posted absolutely NOTHING to this blog about my trip. But I think I have a good enough compromise. My family brought my old GoPro on this trip with them, and I was able to use it to record a ton of videos on the days we went snorkeling. We did three separate snorkeling excursions, and I made three compilation videos of the footage from each day. I think it would be a bit selfish to keep all those videos locked up for only me and my family don’t you? So, without further ado, here are all the snorkeling videos from the Belize 2024 trip!

Day 1 Video: Hol Chan Marine Reserve and Shark Alley

This first day definitely took me a while to get used to operating the GoPro again, so the footage certainly isn’t Oscar worthy, but we had great sunlight this day and the unique scenery of this beautiful marine reserve more than makes up for it. The latter half of the video is full of sharks, so if you are a member of the JAWS generation and have Galeophobia, stand clear!

Day 2 Video: Lighthouse Reef/ Great Blue Hole

If you only want to watch one of these videos, I definitely think this one here is the best of the bunch. We went to the world famous Great Blue Hole and different spots on the surrounding reef, and the footage turned out great. The reef structures were absolutely beautiful and the colors when the sun came out were stunning

Day 3 Video: Mexico Rocks

Although this day was a little bit cloudy and the colors didnt pop quite as much, we got super close to a ton of fish today and I got some great up close videos. Our second stop today was very special for me, as I had a very close encounter with a lemon shark as well as my favorite marine animal, the spotted eagle ray!

I hope you enjoy watching these videos as much as I did making them! I hope to have a new post for you all soon, so stay tuned to hear about how life has been lately in Esquipulas. Peace!

The Sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever.
